Frequently asked questions

When do 2027 applications open and close?

Applications open on 1 June 2026. Undergraduate and Advanced Diploma programmes close on 30 November 2026; Honours, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s and Doctoral programmes close on 30 January 2027.

Is there an application fee?

Yes — a non-refundable R200 for South African applicants, R400 for SADC applicants, and R550 for other international applicants, payable before your application can be completed.

How many programmes can I apply for?

Two academic programme choices, added through the “Add new academic applications” step on iEnabler.

Does meeting the minimum APS guarantee me a place?

No. Compliance with minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission — registration is at the sole discretion of Council, and places are limited.

What if I studied at another institution?

UMP recognises Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) under its official policy — indicate this on your application and submit an official transcript.

Do postgraduate programmes use an APS score?

No. Advanced Diplomas, Postgraduate Diplomas, Honours, Master’s and Doctoral programmes are entered on the strength of your prior qualification (e.g. a relevant Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum average), not a matric-based APS.
